Pre Order GTA 5

Right now the gaming world is buzzing with news and speculation about Grand Theft Auto 5, the forthcoming installment in one of the most popular gaming franchises of all time.  Why pre order GTA 5?  Here is what we currently know about the upcoming open world action-adventure game from Rockstar Games.

GTA 5 will be set in Los Santos, San Andreas, the fictional equivalent of the real world city of Los Angeles.  We’ve already seen Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto and know what an amazing gaming environment Rockstar Games has created.  With the advancements in computer graphics which have been made over the past few years we can only expect Los Santos to include more detail, depth, and atmosphere than ever before.

On November 2nd, we got our first look at Grand Theft Auto 5 in Rockstar’s debut trailer.  The trailer reveals a protagonist dressed in a suit—a man who has attempted to reform from a life of crime only to be forced back into the underground by financial need imposed by the conditions of the economic crisis.  The markers of the recession are everywhere—signs for foreclosed homes, homeless people roaming the streets—in short, a very accurate rendition of modern-day Southern California.  As such, it is easy to imagine that the plot of this game is also quite realistic, and that it represents the real life plight of many people.

With a more complex and well developed world than ever and a trailer promising plenty of fast-paced action, there are many reasons to pre order GTA 5.  GTA 5 promises to expand the GTA universe, and will as usual take a satirical look at the American Dream—this time in a convincing virtual environment which reflects the very real impoverishment of that dream.
